He began his professional career in the teaching field working as an industrial economy teacher in the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona University. Later he became a congressman in the Congreso de los Diputados, as economic spokesman (1986-1999), and President of the Industry and Energy Commission. He was a member of the Barcelona Municipal City Council and member of the Catalan Parliament. He has also been the President of the Consell Català del Moviment Europeu. In the 2001-2003 period he was the Economy and Finance Secretary of the Generalitat de Catalunya. In the professional and private field, he has been the Executive President of Areas. Currently he is the Executive President of RJCE Consultants, President of Abertis Logística and member of the board of various companies. He also teaches Spanish Economy in the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.
